NORUMBEGA
After we left the Memory Motel, the Jitney took us back to the parking garage by 154 West 46th street, where we dropped off and picked up some time travelers. Mary and I headed back to 8th street to pick up some weed from my apartment before crossing the street to the Electric Lady Studios party. Talking about our Montauk adventures with various members of famous bands, we took a few of them back in time between joints. Mary and I inducted most of these rock stars into the time traveling hall of fame.
To start the journey, click on a band and follow members to other locations. If you find yourself in dead ends, come back to Electric Lady and follow a safer band member or try a different band. Warning! Parts of NYC in the 80's were being redlined, so fun and danger of all types was allowed to fester.
Electric Lady was once called the Generation Club where Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, B.B. King, Chuck Berry & Dave Van Ronk (the Mayor of MacDougal Street) played in 1967. The basement was once called The Village Barn (1930 to 1967). Jimi Hendrix and his manager Michael Jeffery bought the nighclub in 1968. John Storyk was the architect, Eddie Kramer designed the sound system, Les Paul was consulted too.
Enjoy the road back via these star seeds that brought the old walls down.
